Japanese Emperor Oak, Daimyo Oak This is a large Oak with very large, dark green leaves that turn to yellows and browns in autumn. In cooler areas, autumn leaves will hold onto the tree late into winter. Produces flower-like catkins which are inconspicuous in nature. This variety is perfect as a large specimen or shade tree for parks or large gardens where there is space. Provides year-round interest. This tree is tolerant of most soil types but prefers a full sun position in humus-rich soil. It is relatively wind resistant and will tolerate cold environments and frost conditions. |
