Sundowner Dwarf Nectarine (Low-chill) 'Sundowner' is early ripening variety of nectarine typically fruiting in January. Fruit is yellow and fleshy with a smooth red skin and good flavour. This is a low-chill variety suitable for both temperate and subtropical climates. This is a popular nectarine variety that can easily be grown in backyards due to its compact size. Fruit is eaten fresh or preserved. Prefers a humus-rich, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Plant the bud union above the soil level and water in well keeping the soil moist until tree is established. Fertiliser should be applied at the time of planting and again after the appearance of new growth. Pruning annually will ensure new growth and fruit the following year. |
