Prunus armeniaca 'Newcastle'

Foliage Deciduous
Form V-Shaped
Mature Size 5 x 3m
Family Rosaceae
Newcastle Apricot (Low-chill)

Newcastle produces a rounded, medium to large yellow-orange fruit with light green shoulders. Its flesh is orange, soft and juicy. It is an early harvest, free-stone variety that is self-fertile. Newcastle successfully produces fruit in both cole-temperate, warm-temperate and some subtropical climates, as it requires low chill hours.

This variety produces a small yellow fruit used for drying, desserts, preserves and canning.

Prefers a sunny position with well-drained soil. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise and prune yearly to encourage new growth and fruit the following year (this heavy-bearing tree may need thinning each year to ensure a good yield).
