Tree Quercus robur English Oak

Description This is a large, stately and long lived variety of oak with a low branching canopy. It is somewhat stout in appearance due to its trunk and secondary branches being quite thick. Silvery grey to black bark develops deep fissures giving it a rugged appearance as it ages. Foliage is lobed, oval in shape and turns reddish to yellow just before falling. Small, inconspicupous, green or pale yellow flowers are produced in spring followed by egg-shaped green acorns which mature to dark brown.
