Description | A fast growing, medium sized deciduous tree growing 3-5 metres tall. During summer, this variety produces masses of excellent quality, delicious dark red fleshed fruit with purple-green coloured skin. Usually producing two crops per year, it is a reliable and heavy cropper with a vigorous spreading habit. This is a self-pollinating variety. 'Black Genoa' works well in both cold-temperate and sub-tropic areas, as it requires low chill hours. | ||

Uses | Plant as a specimen tree in the landscape or as a group for an orchard affect. A fantastic fig variety best eaten fresh off the tree or made into jam. This is a great variety for making jams, drying or eating fresh. | ||
Position & Soil | Hardy and frost tolerant, figs grow best in a warm dry climate. Prefers light free-draining, neutral soil in a warm and sunny position. Enrich soil with well decomposed manure or compost and mulch well. Water well while it is fruiting. | ||
