Description A popular ornamental tree that has a fastigiate growth habit and green leaves that turn shades of yellow and gold in autumn. The leaves have serrated margins and are strongly veined.

Uses Its tight, upright form makes it suitable for avenue planting, hedging and a good tree specimen in smaller gardens. This variety can be hedged or clipped to provide a screening alternative. Carpinus often has its canopy raised to leave a clear trunk at the base.
Position & Soil While this tree is suitable for slightly-shaded area, they are very hardy, preferring a well-drained, moist site with full sun. Tolerant of a wide range of soils.
