Description | This Australian native that is indigenous to Victoria and Tasmania that will grow to about 12-15m. It has dark brown wood that is deeply furrowed wood. This is a hardy shade tree that produces masses of pale yellow flowers in clusters from late winter to early spring adding great colour in the winter months. |

Uses | Acacia melanoxylon is a strong timber tree suitable for large areas such as playgrounds and parks. It is able to grow as tall as 30m in protected areas but is generally smaller, around the 15m mark, in more exposed and open conditions. |
Position & Soil | Grows best in a rich soil in a moist sheltered position. Prefers a moist well drained soil with lots of organic matter. Does not like compacted soils. |
