Pacific Madrone This is an attractive tree with smooth russet orange sinuous trunks, its peeling bark and thick green leathery leaves. It produces white urn-shaped flowers born in upright clusters in spring followed by red to orange rough strawberry-looking fruit. This tree is bird-attracting. It is suitable for residential properties and as a feature tree in parks and open spaces. Has moderate frost tolerance and high drought tolerance once established. Prefers some frost protection in early years. May grow well on elevated areas. Grows best in well-drained soils. Full sun position. |
